Lot Details

13th to 16thC. A pale brown stoneware figure of a nude woman with a topknot, kneeling and holding a child between her breasts. The celadon glaze applied roughly above her waist. For a comparable figure see: William Willetts, Ceramic art of Southeast Asia (Singapore: The Southeast Asian Ceramic Society, 1971), p. 70, no. 280. University of Malaysia collection; Willetts observes this figure 'came from the kiln site'.
